Talk to School Program

IESL Young Members Section (YMS) conducted the first physical event for the Year 2021 organizing the Talk to School program with the support of IESL Uva Chapter and the university students of the Faculty of Engineering at South Eastern University. The aim of this program is to build a better future generation; hence it comprises with the very important speeches for creating their future goals. The first program was successfully completed on 19th March, 2021 at Bibila Yasodhara Balika Vidyalaya.


The first speech was conducted by Eng. Asela Bandara about the role of an Engineer and the Engineering profession. It was a kick start for the program and greatly helpful for the students to identity who we are and the importance of the rest of the program. Then three speeches were done on the topics of Energy Conservation and Management, Water Conservation and Environmental Awareness and Protection by Eng. Lakmali Karunanayake, Eng. Kusal Manamperi and Eng. Ravi Indrajith respectively. A session related to personality development, attitude building, and leadership was conducted by Eng. Thilina Dissanayake. It was a motivational lecture for the students, and it was greatly helpful to build the positive attitude towards their education and life goals. Finally, Eng. Damith Dissanayake, the chairman of the IESL Young Members Section conducted an interesting, attractive session about the financial, social, and other issues which badly affect the education of the students and how they can overcome those problems and succeed their future goals.


The Engineering undergraduates of the South Eastern University who participated for the program performed their aesthetic talents and entertained the gathering. Further they conducted an IQ test for the students and gifts were given to the students who have shown their talents. On that day, another important program was initiated by the members of IESL. It was organized to offer scholarships for five students who are facing financial difficulties in their education with the unconditional contribution of Eng. Chaminda Hearath, Eng. Rukshan Dayarathna, Eng. B. A. Chamila Sandaruwan, Eng. Gayan Gunatilake , Eng. Asela Bandara and Eng. U. Pubudu Pathirana. Finally, the support and the cooperation extended by the principal, Mrs. H. M. Saman Kumari Hearath of Bibila Yasodhara Balika Vidyalaya was really appreciated, and a special token of appreciation was given to her by the Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka. We appreciate the immense service of the Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka to fulfill their social responsibilities as Engineers to create a better future for the next generation.
